Born on the 16th of August, 1958, Angela Bassett is an American actress and human rights activist.She is very popular for her performance as Tina Turner in the biopic What's Love Got to Do With It.
Her parents are Betty Jane and Daniel Benjamin Bassett, and she got her middle name from her aunt, Evelyn.
Talking about her family, 10 months after Angela was born, her mother took in again and had her sister, D'nette.
The pregnancy made things harder for the family, and she was and to go stay with her paternal aunt, Golden who didn't have a child of her own.
She eventually fought through, and went on to get a degree in African-American studies from the Yale University.
She earned an M.F.A. degree from the Yale School of Drama in 1983 and got a job as a receptionist for a beauty salon and then as a photo researcher after graduating.
Bassett made her first television appearance as a prostitute in the TV movie Doubletake in 1985. She made her film debut as a news reporter in the 1986 movie, F/X and joined the the Screen Actors Guild (SAG), then she moved to Los Angeles to help grow her entertainment career.
She has grown to become one of the biggest actresses in the Hollywood, and is married to fellow actor Courtney B. Vance.
Some of her appearances include Black Panther, 9-1-1 and American Horror Story.
They had their twins, Slater Josiah Vance and Bronwyn Golden Vance on the 27th of January, 2006 via surrogate.
