Born on the 29th of September, 1973 in a coastal city close to the Atlantic Ocean - Mbour, Senegal, Ndour's father is a Lebanese while her mother is from Mauritania.Her maternal grandmother is from Mali, and her ethnic mix helped her music career a lot. She combines traditional mbalax music with elements of R&B, Country and U.S. rap.
Viviane released her first album in the year 1999, and formed a group, Le Jolof Band in 2001. Most of her songs are in English or Wolof, with a few in French.
As for her religion, she was born a Christian but has reportedly converted to Islam.
