AKA Biography, Date Of Birth, Age, Family And Education 

Kiernan Jarryd Forbes popularly known as AKA was born on the 28th of January, 1988 in Cape Town, South Africa. AKA spent much of his early years with his grandmother in Michell's Plain before moving out at the age of six to live with his Mother in Johannesburg.
His Dad worked for an insurance company in Johannesburg while his Mum was a school teacher.
While in Cape Town, AKA attended Holy Cross Convent but later changed to Greenside Primary School when he moved to Jo'burg.
After completing his primary school education, AKA proceeded to St. John's College for his secondary education.
In 2006 when Entity, a music group formed by AKA alongside his two friends Greyhound and Vice Versa disbanded, he had to go study sound engineering.

Entertainment Career

Forbes started his music career in 2002 when he formed a group, Entity alongside his two friends Greyhound and Vice Versa. The group, which was doing very fine, even receiving a nominee on the KORA Awards for the Best African Hip Hop category disbanded in 2006.

In 2006, AKA co-founded the production collective The I.V League alongside two other members, Buks and Kamza. The I.V League made production credits for artists including ProKid, Khuli Chana and JR. In 2009, he released three songs, which include "In My Walk","Mistakes" and "I Do".

In 2011 AKA won the Channel O’s Most Gifted Hip-Hop Video award at the 7th annual Channel O Music Video Awards for his song “Victory Lap”. He was also awarded Male Artist of the Year and Best Street Urban Music Album at the 18th South African Music Awards.

AKA has opened for Snoop Dogg, Kanye West,  Rick Ross, Kendrick Lamar, Big Sean and 2 Chainz in their South African tours.

In 2014, AKA signed a multi-album deal with Sony Music through its new local urban label Sound African recordings. The announcement was made by the executive head of A&R for Sony, Zakes Bantwini through their platform.

In June 2015, AKA’s sophomore album Levels was certified Gold, by the Recording Industry of South Africa, for shipments of over 20,000 copies domestically.

Personal Life

AKA's daughter, Kairo Owethu Forbes was born on July 8, 2015. Kairo's Mum is a South African disc jockey, Zinhle Jiyane popularly known as DJ Zinhle. AKA and Kairo appeared on the cover of Hype magazine in 2017
AKA is currently in as relationship with South African television presenter, Bonang Matheba. According to Briefly.co.za, the relationship between AKA and Bonang started off at the time DJ Zinhle fell pregnant with AKA’s child.
