National ID Card Replacement Costs ₦5,000
According to a tweet by the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), the cost for the replacement of the Nigerian national identity card is ₦5,000. This came as a shock to many on the microblogging platform as they furthermore disclosed that the cost for the renewal of the identity card is ₦3,000.
The Twitter users were reacting massively, with many wondering why a national ID card should be renewed at first, and if it expired like the VISA and other identity cards.

The payment will be made via Remita, and the tweet was made via the handle, (@nimc_ng) monitored by the News Agency of Nigeria in Abuja on Monday, and confirmed by a staff of the Corporate Department of the NIMC.
The NIMC further said that applicants who wish to renew their cards can visit any of their offices with the following things to make their requests.
• A written application
• The proof of payment receipt, which will be made via bank teller, Remita or NIN slip, attached to the application and submitted at their office.

According to them, the NIN can also be authenticated through their verification portal without your card.
