Born on the 20th of January, 1998, Rachel Akosua Funmilola Garton professionally known as Lola Rae is a Nigerian-British singer, song writer and dancer.She was born to a British father and a Ghanaian mother in Nigeria, and had her primary and secondary education at the St. Saviours School, Ikoyi and Lekki British International High School, Lagos, respectively.
Lola Rae however left her birth country to England when she was 15, and got a degree in fashion textiles from the Central Saint Martins.
She came into limelight after her debut single, 'Watch My Ting Go' became a success and the song earned her a nomination for the Most Promising Female Act to Watch at the 2013 Nigeria Entertainment Awards.
Talking about Lola Rae's career as a dancer, she started off as a member of the dance group, Mystikal. They were auditioned for the 2010 Britain's Got Talent and Lola sang in the competition, where she was singled out at the semi-final by the judge, Simon Cowell.
The Mystikal was signed to Syco for a year at the end of the competition and she turned down an invitation to the X Factor to help her pursue a solo music career.
On the 19th of November, 2012, she released her debut single, 'Watch My Ting Go' and another, 'High'.
