Whenever you hear the words, 'traffic light', what is the first picture that your mind presents?
I don't know about you, but for me, I always see the custom three color traffic lights that occupy almost all the major streets in Nigeria.
Well, would you be surprised to hear that 'traffic lights' didn't initially have 'lights'? They were manually controlled by the policemen on duty, and a side of the device had the 'stop' on it while the other side had the 'go on'.

It was rotated to tell the motorists when to go and when not to. Which is better - then or now?
