Sen. Ike Ekweremadu was born on the 12th of May, 1962 in  Amachara Mpu in Aninri Local Government Area of Enugu State. He had his primary and secondary education in Enugu State before gaining admission into the University of Nigeria, Nsukka to study law.
He also holds a master's degree in Law from UNN and Doctor of Philosophy Degree in Law from the University of Abuja, Nigeria. He was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1987.

Political Career

Ike Ekweremadu was the chairman of Aninri L.G.A in 1997 and during his tenure, won the Best Local Government Chairman Award in Enugu State. After completing his tenure, the then governor of Enugu State in 2002 appointed his as Secretary to the Enugu State Government. He was also appointed as the Chief of Staff of the Enugu State Government House.

On April 12, 2003, Chief Ike Ekweremadu was elected to the Nigerian Senate and in September 2003, as Vice Chairman of the senate committee on Information, he stated that the senate would make a serious investigation into allegations of bribery leveled by FCT against minister Mallam Nasir el-Rufai. In 2008, Nasir el-Rufai was finally charged with corruption.
Sen. Ike Ekweremadu lost to Sen. Kenechukwu Nnamani in the race for President of the Senate of Nigeria.
