Richard Mofe-Damijo was born on the 6th of July 1961 in Aladja community of Udu Kingdom, near Warri, Delta State. He had his early education at the Midwest College, Warri and proceeded to the Anglican Grammar School. He was a member of the Drama Club at Anglican Grammar School and it was where he discovered his acting talent.

After completing his secondary school education, RMD gained admission to study Theatre Arts at the University of Benin. A few years after featuring in his first Nollywood movie, RMD returned to the university to study law at the University of Lagos. He graduated from UniLag in 2004.

Mofe-Damijo was married to May Ellen-Ezekiel, a Nigerian journalist/publisher. After May's death in 1996, he re-married to a TV personality, Jumobi Adegbesan who later left TV for the corporate world.
RMD has four children, two with his current wife and two from his previous marriage. His children's names are Oghenekome, Nichole and Tega. 

Career And Politics

Mofe-Damijo took part in 'Ripples', a television soap opera in the late 80's after his graduation from university. Before featuring in the program, he had already worked as a reporter with Metro Magazine and Concord Newspapers.
RMD is an active politician and was the commissioner for Culture and Tourism in Delta State, Nigeria.
