Born on the 11th of November, 1992, Florence Otedola better known as DJ Cuppy lived in Ilupeju, Lagos State, Nigeria for around six years before moving to Ikeja.She moved to London for her GCSEs and A-Levels, and graduated from the King's College, London in July 2014 with a degree in Business and Economics.
DJ Cuppy got her Master's Degree in Music Business from the New York University in the year 2015. In 2014, she became the resident DJ at the MTV Africa Music Awards in Durban and then played at the Tatler and Christie's Art Ball, London and also at the Financial Times Luxury Summit in Mexico City.
She released 'House of Cuppy' as her first compilation mix in Lagos and London, before launching it in New York on the 2nd of September, 2014.
Still in 2014, Cuppy launched her content production and London-based music management business, Red Velvet Music Group. She was featured on the cover of the Guardian Life magazine in January 2015 and was named the official DJ for the 2015 Oil Barons Charity in Dubai, becoming the first African act to perform at the event.
She was also featured in the 2015 April/May issue of Forbes Women Africa.
She set off her first DJ tour to 8 cities in Africa, 'Cuppy Takes Africa' visiting Nigeria, Ghana, Senegal, Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania, South Africa and Uganda. The tour was supported by both the Dangote Foundation and GTB Bank.
In 2016, DJ Cuppy was the resident DJ for MTV2's Uncommon Sense with Charlamagne Tha God. She also produced two songs, 'Vibe' and 'The Way I Am' both appearing on 'Afrobeats' EP by Young Paris which was released on March 24, 2017.
On the 13th of July, 2017, she released her first official single, 'Green Light' featuring Tekno. She released her second official single, 'Vybe' on the 30th of March, 2018 featuring Sarkodie.
She was appointed by the Nigeria's Minister of Tourism, Culture and National Orientation, Edem Duke as the tourism ambassador for the country's 'Fascinating Nigeria' campaign.
Cuppy is also one of Pepsi's DJ Ambassadors alongside 3 others in Nigeria. On the 5th of June, 2018, she was announced as a Global Citizen Education Ambassador.
