Better known as Kanayo O. Kanayo, Anayo Modestus Onyekwere was born on the 1st of March, 1962 in Mbaise, Imo State, Eastern Nigeria.He was born into the family of Mr. Donatus Onyekwere and Mrs. Isabella Onyekwere of Nru Umueze, Oboama, Ezinihitte Mbaise, Imo State.
Anayo was brought up by his elder brother, John in Enugu but had his primary education at Saint Joseph Primary School Mbaise while his secondary education was at the Ahiara Boys Secondary School, also in Mbaise. He however didn't complete there and had to finish up at Technical College Aba, Abia State.
After his primary and secondary education, KOK as he is also called got admitted into the University of Lagos, where he studied Philosophy and then he got a Master's Degree in Political Science, also from the same school.
After finishing from the university, Kanayo played a guest role for the NTA series, 'New Masquerade' alongside other veteran actors like Prince Jegede Shokoya, Prince Jegede Shokoya, Ovuleria, Giringory and Prince Jegede Shokoya.
From there he started attending Nollywood auditions and rose to limelight in 1992, when he played the role of Chief Omego in the movie, 'Living In Bondage'.
He is married to Mrs. Nneka Onyekwere and they have five children.
